Everything Wrong With The Fugitive In 20 Minutes Or Less
The Fugitive is an all time classic. We love this movie. But man... a lot of bullsh*t goes on. A lot. Some of it is sinful.
Here are the sins of The Fugitive.
Next week: 2019 drama sins, early 00's action sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

How did you not sin this movie for the fakest mannequin ever thrown off of a dam?

Admittedly I'm relatively new to CinemaSins and still learning how things work, but the outhouse/henhouse/doghouse scene getting a sin rather than -1,000 upsets me more than the rest of 2020. I don't even care what happens in the election now.

Reviewer has never used an office phone in his life. Hook switch does not end the call, just turns it to speakerphone mode. There is a separate button to hang up, exactly like the killer pushes in the movie. As to why there's an office phone in the guy's house, I don't have any idea. Unless, you know, doctor and stuff, maybe he needs that many speed dial buttons for midnight medical emergencies. I dunno.

I totally missed this throw back to the movie Office Space, the first time I watched this...at the 18:09 mark he mentions that the 'dude from Office Space is in this movie early on but there's no need to jump to conclusions this early'...nicely done CinemaSins

THANK YOU for laying out exactly what I've been saying about this movie's sins for a VERY long time! The cops and the defense lawyers did a VERY poor job at the beginning, which we're supposed to accept is a valid reason for why he's believed guilty. Sam Gerard laying out the facts and calling out the cops on the nonsense is SO rewarding. But it just highlights how forced the situation really is.

06:53 remove the sin about honking at an ambulance. I'm a cop and I get honked at by oblivious motorists when responding to emergency calls with all my lights and sirens blaring, and I 've literally been stuck behind trucks, vans, busses etc for over a mile on single lane country roads. You'd be surprised how many people do not look in their mirrors.

I've grown up since this movie came out. Great fuckin' movie. Shows you how truly big pharma, with help from the FDA, are a bunch of greedy assholes, with little care about people. But I wwant to focus on Dr. Kimble's interrogation at police HQ. I white, educated, and a prominent member of the medical community, these cops are really grilling him like he actually killed his wife. Since he walked into the house while the crime was being committed, he can give specific details that other wise, he would not know. But I like how he gives vague answers to questions asked. That demonstrates not knowing much about the crime. For example, if you ask a culprit what he knows, he would, depending on his intelligence, give out incriminating evidence without knowing or realizing, oh shit, I gave out too much information. With the evidence presented during his trail, was circumstantial, at best. I would fire that idiot lawyer and represent myself. I am not dying for something I did not do. It's only a movie, I know, he was at the right place at the right moment. An act of God happened. There were causalities, but all of the inmates, probably serving life sentences or the death penalty, so really, who cares, much better than going to a level 4 facility. The bus driver died, but the Joel kid with the fractured sternum, makes up for that. Hne would have at least tried to escape from prison. Bing a doctor with no violent past, he would have being given trustee privileges and find a way out. The train accident was epic, but a prison break also would have been interesting. When are you doing "U.S. Marshals"?

  • Float_Bowl_Gasket _

i just want to add, that the 2 cops you sin at the beginning, were actual Chicago detectives. The guy with the glasses was still on the job at the time of this film, and the other guy wasn't. I forget their names, but they've been in a lot of movies that take place in Chicago, and they're always cops. Except guy number 1, he appears in The Color Of Money as a bar patron during the Two Brothers and A Stranger scene.

Nothing has bothered me more about an iconic movie than Tommy Lee going for the headshot on Kimbel at that point in the movie. Not only is it out of character for someone who wants to apprehend, but also, he is aware that Kimbel is trying to prove his innocence. He has to be aware of the situation where if Kimbel WAS innocent and was half way to finding the murderer, it would look pretty bad for him to have shot and killed the innocent doctor given what he knew.

Also would be fun to see if an episode on the "sequel" US Marshals would have some crossover jokes or some such Edit: Missing an obvious "Janitor Ex Machina" joke when the subway cop(same actor who played The Janitor in Scrubs) notices Kimble and Sykes while the latter has Kimble at gunpoint(probably seconds from killing him).
